Houdini - Whitehead, Episode 4

Today marks the 86th Anniversary of the infamous 'punch' incident where Houdini was hit numerous times in the stomach by J. Gordon Whitehead. The Magic Detective Show Episode 4 delves into this event and shares some information about just who Whitehead was.

This episode is coming out a little early because I wanted it to try and follow the important events of Houdini's life as they unfold.

Don't forget to check out the  'Additional Information' on Episide 4 either later tonight or tomorrow. Until then, enjoy Episode 4!

  1. Are we sure that Whitehead was a student? The college listed a Wallace Whitehead not a J. Gordon.

    1. Actually, despite what I said in the video, I'm not sure if it's ever been confirmed that Whitehead was in fact a student. The various biographies refer to Whitehead in different ways, but always a student. I don't have the Don Bell bio in front of me as I'd like to see what it says as Don Bell did the most exhaustive research on Whitehead to date.
Even Houdini referred to Whitehead as a 'college kid', but again, not sure if it's been proven. Yes, there was a Wallace Whitehead, but no J. Gordon, at least as far as I can tell.
