Happy 43rd Anniversary Le Grand David

43 years ago today, the very first Le Grand David Show appeared on the stage at the Cabot St. Cinema Theatre in Beverly. It would go on to be the longest running continuous resident magic show in the history of America. Doug Henning 20th Anniversary

It was 20 years ago today, the magic world got the news that one of our greatest magicians had passed away. It was a shock to many. Certainly a shock to me. Doug Henning passed away Feb 7, 2000, he was only 52 years old. He had retired from performing to pursue other projects. But in the previous year or so Doug started to show up at magic shops here and there across the country. There were rumors that he would be returning to magic. I was so excited by this prospect! To see Doug Henning LIVE on stage again, wow! His was my favorite magic show at that point, that I'd ever seen live. But it was not to be. Just as quick as the rumors started, he was gone.

There was a little less magic in the world that day and every day since. RIP Doug Henning.

The House of Dr. Walford Bodie

Episode 42 of my podcast was on the life of Dr. Walford Bodie. It's online for a few days. Imagine my surprise when I received an email from someone in the town he lived in.  Turns out that the old Bodie Mansion is FOR SALE! And what a beautiful property it is. I am always fascinated by this kind of stuff. I was told that some folk believe the house to be haunted. But frankly, I think it would be AWESOME to have the Ghost of Walford Bodie walking the halls!

The house is in Macduff, Scotland. As you can see above, it's a gorgeous home. I'm point the link to the realtors site so you can see ALL the images, the inside, the outside, everything. It's an amazing looking place. The last time Bodie would have been IN the house would have been 1939, so it's gone through at least a couple owners since.
