The SAM should be taking care of this.Carnegiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10142955905272650610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476836446638612873.post-30372100204749445462013-08-23T03:26:31.421-05:002013-08-23T03:26:31.421-05:00With another Halloween coming up I thought I would...With another Halloween coming up I thought I would add this to a comment in your wonderful post. "Today, the care of the plot is mostly done by the SAM Parent Assembly #1 with George Schindler being in charge of the committee who cares for the grave." This is not so... According to The New York Times... http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/31/houdinis-final-trick-a-tidy-grave/?_r=0

George Schindler, the dean of the Society of American Magicians, said his group had stopped contributing money toward the maintenance of the site in recent years. He said David Jacobson, “sends us a bill for upkeep every year but we never pay it"

Please be reminded that Houdini, is the man who made the growth of the Society of American Magicians possible, which is often called the single largest movement in the history of magic. Thanks to Houdini's original hard work, and later others, the organization now has about 300 clubs and between 5,000 and 6,000 dues paying members. According to tax filings they collect about a half million dollars in dues each year. Seems time they pay to take care of Houdini's grave each year, or in perpetuity.

Dick Brookz & Dorothy Dietrich
The Houdini Museum
"The Only Building in the World Entirely Dedicated to Houdini"
Started in NYC in the 1970'sHoudini Museumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04310452776858134825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476836446638612873.post-89157044868379782532011-10-28T10:22:19.379-05:002011-10-28T10:22:19.379-05:00Thanks for the shout out, Dean.
