We finally reached Day 1 of Houdini 100, the centennial anniversary of the death of Houdini. He may have been gone from this earthly plane for 100 years, but his presence is everywhere. With nearly 2 dozen new books, documentaries, podcasts, radio interviews, blogs, videos, you name it, his name is still being promoted.
Today, in California is the Houdini Auction by Potter and Potter taking place at The Magic Castle. This is part of the collection of Kevin Connolly. From what i understand, it begins with someone doing an upside down straitjacket escape outside the castle!
In NYC, John Cox, Jessica Jane, and Dorothy Dietrich, will be hosting three Seances AT Houdini's actual home on 278 W 113th St.. My friend Wayne Alan will be there and he is bringing, Dunninger's Spirit Trumpet and Spirit Slates that he would use back in the day when he attended Houdini Seances.
There are other seances across the county and likely across the globe. Then there are those of us about to have a busy day performing, because afterall, it is NATIONAL MAGIC DAY! I am leaving here the moment I finish this blog as my first show starts at 11.
Notice I said, Day 1 of Houdini 100. We still have a full year of GREAT activities to enjoy related to the grand master of escape! So however you celebrate, enjoy the day! OH, and don't forget to get your copy of The Houdini Coloring Book on Amazon.com!
